Description
The Drôme region - where I've lived for over twenty years - never ceases to inspire me. With my watercolors painted on the spot, I try to let the luminosity and harmony of its landscapes penetrate me. They never offend the eye; everything is on a human scale. My abstract paintings, too, are undoubtedly influenced by all the varied shapes that surround me: the roundness of hills, the rugged ridge line of a mountain, the abrupt lines of a cliff or the irregular fabric of crops. It's a feeling shared by so many French and foreign artists whom I meet and with whom we exchange our impressions (see my blog provencerelfections.com or website: artlauranke.com).
If the expression "a picture is worth a thousand words" is right, then, given the number of watercolors I've painted, I've said it all about my love of the Drôme!
